ECLIPSE OF THE SATURNIAN SPHINX , FEB. 20-21!
by Kelley Hunter
SUMMARY: This Full Moon eclipse is the last total eclipse until winter 2010. Enjoy the power and beauty of this celestial event. The Moon keeps company with Saturn and Regulus at the gateway of the Sphinx, the cusp of Leo-Virgo.
The Moon-Sun dynamic in Virgo-Pisces invokes a shift in our alignment of heaven and earth, as we stand at an extended EVE of a GALACTIC SHIFT.
A DOOR MAY SHUT BEHIND ONE, ANOTHER MAY LOOM IN FRONT, AN END MAY SHINE AFAR.
A.E. Waite, The Quest of the Golden Stairs
The FULL MOON ECLIPSE on February 20-21 is at the beginning edge of Virgo, reflecting the light of the Sun that just moved into Pisces. This will be a total eclipse, visible in the most of the Western world. Beginning around 8:45 pm EST, it lasts until after midnight, with its peak at 10:26 pm.
This promises to be a rather magical eclipse for several reasons. The visuals will be quite special. The Moon is in good company, close to both Saturn and Regulus, the royal star that marks the Heart of Leo, the Lion.
The head of the Great Goddess Virgo is next to the Lion’s backside. So I call this meeting of signs the cusp of the SPHINX.
The annular Solar Eclipse that preceded this Full Moon was full of rarified Aquarian vibrations. Venus joined that team a few days ago, as the Sun moved into Pisces. This Full Moon brings us right down to Earth, as the Moon confers with no-nonsense Saturn in Virgo. Virgo is a common sensical sign, tuned into Earth energies, Nature and its rhythms. Our bodies are more at ease when we follow natural cycles and design our days accordingly. Earth signs are realistic, practical and pragmatic. Saturn is a no-fooling-around kind of planet and will let us know in no uncertain terms what’s workable or not.
Take the time to listen to the wisdom of your body.
Pisces tunes into cosmic wavelengths, and certainly we don’t want to lose our connection. But we are each asked to apply spiritually-inspired feelings and intuitions to see that we are on track and on time. We are confronted with any ways in which we are a little spaced out and avoiding the agenda on the table in front of us. Still, we hear this subtle music just on the other side of present reality. Make sure at least one foot stays grounded in this world.
BETWIXT THE MURMURS OF THE BREEZE AND THE WOODS, THE VOICE OF BELLS IN FAERIE. Quest of the Golden Stairs
During a total lunar eclipse it is as if we fast-forward through a Moon cycle, from full light, to shadowed light, to full again. A door closes and a new one opens in a brief two-hour time slot. The Moon and Saturn align with the South Node of the Moon, is a definitive closure that could be tracked back to August 2007, when we had a reversed total eclipse. If it wasn’t done then, it’s done now. The decks are cleared for the next step. The South Node can also brings back both unsettled karmas and rewards for accomplishments from the past.
This Saturnian eclipse is working in harmony with Pluto in Capricorn, the sign of its new agenda, another earth sign. We are transitioning into this new agenda big time this year. Pluto in Capricorn is about transforming the powers that be in the world, the forms and structures we live in, and how that is all going to change. How IS that all going to change? Are you on board? Next month’s New Moon will get us all aboard that train that takes us to 2024. I’ll be writing more about that. If you want to study up, there is a lot of good material out there on the web about the potentials of Pluto in Capricorn. (for a great overview article by Danish Astrologer Adrian Ross Duncan:
Thanks to Alan Oken for passing this along.)
Getting with the program, this Virgo-Pisces eclipse gives us a here-and-now opportunity to shift galactic gears, and bring Heaven down to Earth. With the Nature connection of Virgo, made more tangible by Saturn’s presence, and the esoteric nature of Pisces that tunes into the other side of the veil, we go with Alice through the looking glass, into the Land of Faerie, at the gateway of the Sphinx.
THE KALEIDOSCOPE KINGDOM OF THIS WORLD IS CHANGED IN THE GLASS OF FAERIE, AND IT BECOMES ANOTHER WORLD OF WONDER: THE LAW IS ONDER AND THE ROOT OF THE LAW IS GOODNESS.
Quest of the Golden Stairs
On a total eclipse, we can choose to let in more darkness with the howling of vampires, or we can let the lights of faerie dance into our hearts, inviting more astral perfection into our side. Like those Krishna posters that remind us of the higher worlds, where everything is beautiful. So dispel the shadows that may besiege you, it’s an important piece of psychic work, and flow in the beauty as the veil between worlds is lifted.
Many years ago, in Land’s End, London, I came across a hardbound copy of The Quest of the Golden Stairs: A Mystery of Kinghood in Faerie, by Arthur Edgar Waite. (Many of us know of his Tarot card deck.) The pages were not even cut in this book. I was the first one to read it. It felt like an initiation. I have loved this book ever since, and quote more from it now on the occasion of this eclipse, which can open a door to that otherworld. Perhaps I am being whimsical here, but I am being Saturnine, and religiously Regulusly serious at the same time! Like the Sphinx.
FAERIE IS A GREAT CIRCLE AND IT IS FAR TO THE CENTRE.
THE WORLD IS AN OUTER CIRCLE.
THEY ARE MADE IN EACH OTHER’S LIKENESS.
THE LIKENESS GROWS GREATER AND GREATER, THE NEARER WE DRAW TO THE CENTRE; FOR THIS IS THE SOURCE OF BOTH.
O THE WILD WAYS OF FAERIE, LIGHTNESS AND DARKNESS, AMBER DEEPS OF BRIGHTNESS AND VIOLET SHADOWS.
GLORY OF GRASS, GLORY OF LEAVES, AND GLORY OF PAINTED FLOWER.
GIVE ME THE GLORY OF FAERIE TILL I TIRE OF ALL THE IMAGES.
GIVE ME THE ONE IMAGE, WHICH IS LOVE IN THE HEART OF ALL.
GIVE ME THE LAST CHANGE OF PERFECT BEING, WHEN I AND MY IMAGE ARE ONE.
THE END IS LIKE THE BEGINNING, AND THE BEGINNING IS LIKE THE HEART OF A POMEGRANATE.
ASTRO-SPECIAL: An eclipse special, of course, good until the March 7 New Moon. Check in on your cycles. 45-minutes, $75.
