Il est grand temps rallumer les etoiles.
It is high time to re-illumine the stars.
– Guillaume Apollinaire

This SAGITTARIAN NEW MOON on December 9 or 10 (depending where in the world you are) engages one of the peak planetary pairs of the year: the PLUTO-JUPITER conjunction at 28 Sag. This New Moon opens a month of extraordinary inspiration with Mercury, Sun-Moon, and Jupiter-Pluto all saturated in Sagittarian indigo, a third-eye color for a visionary sign. We enter the Sagittarius Galactic Sequence and head across the UNICORN Cusp.

Day 1, December 9: New Moon at 18 Sag.
Basic Sagittarian themes are suggested and amplified to an unprecedented degree, stretching belief systems as well as our imaginations, directing our consciousness toward divine law, altering our goals as we start to aim our Sagittarian arrows into new cosmic frontiers. Beware the dark side, i.e. exaggerated fears, negative attitude, etc. To focus on the positive is the true Sagittarian way.

With Uranus on one side and Saturn on the other, this New Moon is charged up with higher consciousness manifestation. Uranus enlightens our dreams and in cosmic octaves. Saturn’s agenda includes straightening out our priorities, listening to the organic wisdom of our bodies and Mother Nature.
People born in the late 50’s and 60’s especially feel it. We all continue to ride the white waters in the rapidly flowing Milky Way River.

Day 2, December 10:
The following day, the Moon passes across Jupiter-Pluto, plugging us in on a personal, felt level. The news of the day will be interesting, with political and religious posturing. Dig under the headlines of violence and power plays for some of the “small” stories that become bigger. Americans might have to resort to the internet to get an overview of the international picture. Better yet, turn off the media spin, especially television and discuss the signs of the times with neighbors, friends, colleagues. Especially listen for the Good News! We are creating a grand vision together.

Day 3, December 11:
The exact Jupiter-Pluto conjunction. Because this combination is at 29 degrees Sagittarius, it is closely tuned in to the Milky Way galactic center point at 27 degrees. The real news is coming from here, passed on by visiting comets (Holmes is fading, but Tuttle is coming in) and downloaded by the Sun. It also is the grand finale of the Pluto in Sagittarius phase that began in 1995-6. Where were you back then. Consider how your life has changed in this fiery Pluto cycle, as we head into a grounded earthy phase to apply our big ideas and grand philosophies to business not-as-usual. **

This is not just a 3-day event. We remain directly plugged in until Jupiter enters Capricorn on December 18. Even then the effect lingers, as various planets arrive at the far edge of Sagittarius and cross over into Capricorn.

Reinforcement of the 28 Sag+ into Capricorn cusp occurs by: the
SUN on the December 21 Solstice, preceded and punctuated by MERCURY two days earlier.
VENUS walks across through this gateway arm-in-arm with
PLUTO in late January. The Lord of the underworld is sweetened by the goddess of love. It is as if, empowered by Pluto, Jupiter opens wide the solstice sign gates for Pluto to enter.

I’ll write more about this growing Capricorn energy for the Full Moon. We’ll be starting to get the drift by then. As I’ve mentioned before, I think of this as the UNICORN cusp. The one-pointed arrow becomes the single magical horn on the head of the mythical UNI-CORN, kin to the CapriCORN Sea-Goat. By the December 23 Full Moon, we’ll see that horn on the horse’s head. Rilke wrote of it more than a century ago:

This is the creature there has never been.
They never knew it, and yet, none the less,
They loved the way it moved, its suppleness, its neck, it very gazemild and serene.
Not there, because they loved it, it behaved as though it were.
So they always left some space,
And in that clear, unpeopled space they saved,
It lightly reared its head,
With scarce a trace of not being there.
They fed it, not with corn, but only with the possibility of being.
And that was able to confer such strength,
Its brow put forth a horn. One Horn.
Whitely it stole up to a maid,

– to be, within the silver mirror, and in her.
