TIPPING THE SCALES

Summary (suggested by Andrea from Venice, Italy):
The FULL MOON on September 26-27 occurs three days into the SUN sign LIBRA, the SCALES, with the MOON in ARIES, the RAM. Aries, ruled by Mars, is a sign of initiative, originality and integrity, Libra, ruled by Venus, of balance, relationship and choices. Choices have altered after the potent eclipse of September 11. With Mars opposite Pluto people and situations can be confrontative and/or transformational. Keep your temper and keep options open. Move forward as it feels right. You don’t have to rush into things, but don’t hold back either. The pace is like a rapidly flowing river. Resistance will build up log jams. Find your ground and remain steady as you go, flowing around obstacles.
“Right discipline consists, not in internal compulsion, but in habits of mind which lead spontaneously to desirable rather than undesirable activities.”
For many astrological reasons, this advice from Bertrand Russell epitomizes a key concept for this month. Mars rules this Aries Moon, so we need to keep an eye on the current Pluto-Mars intensity. This phrase is also Saturn’s lesson as it moves through Virgo for the next two years.
This open flower of this Full Moon is the revelation of the lunar eclipse on 9/11/07, a power-punched eclipse. This was followed by 9-9-9 and an Equinox passage flavored by a challenging confrontation between Pluto and Mars. Pluto suggests a transformation is in progress, motivating our actions from under the surface. We need self-awareness and discipline to reign in the Plutonian compulsions and direct our actions (Mars) from higher mind.
The collective consciousness is in an active froth in relation to the god of war and the forces of greed. Eros, the god of desire, takes charge, creating a spicy movement in the sub-atomic soup. Creative options are available to play with. Choices alter with shifting circumstances. Internal movements indicate a profound redirection of energy and desires, which may not be fully risen to consciousness, but sensed intuitively. This can be confusing for the time being, so take all the time you need to feel it out and be clear.
As we head into the waning half of the Moon cycle, we apply insights of the Full Moon. This month, let’s apply the implications of chaos theory. We can certainly tell that the old order is disintegrating. It is the power of desire, of Eros, that aligns the energy fields into a new order. We each do that at a very deep level, focusing on what we want (not what we don’t want). If our desire is strong and clear, we will prevail in creating a new reality of finer quality. This is the Art and Nature of Life. Eros arose from Chaos with Gaia, the Earth Mother.
VENUS, the MOTHER of EROS, aids us in seeking deep satisfaction, pleasure and happiness. After a deep retrograde re-evaluation, the Goddess of Beauty is moving forward from the Heart in Leo. She crosses Regulus the heart star of the Lion on October 7 and moves into Virgo to join Saturn on the karmic South Node of the Moon, a significant combination. Together they manifest with Virgo finesse, something evidently called for and worthy in the long run. I will write more about this later. The next New Moon on October 11 contains potent promise and intrigue from the Black Moon.
Saturn in Virgo teaches discipline and rewards pragmatic understanding and fine application. While in Virgo, the Task-Master planet is providing an excellent opportunity for us to focus on natural rhythms, appropriate methodologies and “whatever works.” The ends do not justify the means. The means qualify the result.
Saturn, the Disciplinarian, can give rise to the sort of “panic” that is rightfully reserved for Plutoand also for Mars, with its Moons named Deimos and Phobos, fear and panic. Even while Pluto and Mars are upping the ante in their face-off we don’t have to buy into panic or terror. As Winston Churchill once said, “We have nothing to fear but fear itself.” Let’s not ride that train. We may be switching trains more than once, as Mars and Pluto oppose each other a couple of times into the New Year. Mars will criss-cross the Gemini-Cancer cusp, while Pluto spans the Sagittarius-Capricorn border. This is a big one. Pluto has not changed sign since 1995-96. In the U.S. O.J. Simpson has been a public player on both ends of this transit.
Each step we take brings us closer to a new Earth-based agenda. We refine our choices as we go. We are taking significant steps in this next two weeks, the Full Moon in Aries suggests. Before choosing, and tipping the Scales in one direction or other, consider the options. This Moon has an interesting planetary triangle in air signsMercury in Libra, Mars in Gemini and Neptune in Aquarius. Ideas, questioning, sharing information, open-minded inquiry are in order. Options continue to open if we “stick to our guns” in terms of the emotional quality of life we seek to experience. We just need to redefine what we mean by “guns,” and how we use Martian energy.
In the current face-off of Mars and Pluto, the dark god, the dark horse is favored. Pluto at the galactic center pointthe power point of the whole Milky Way Galaxy–channels extraordinary cosmic consciousness. Shiva-Shakti, the creative force, dances in this center. Their balance is exquisite, and tips the Scales in the right direction. If we can harness that energy to direct our actions appropriately, how glorious it will be. It all depends on each of us deciding what we really want and aligning our actions in harmony with those truest desires. Let’s do it!
